Steve Brown
Steve is the 3rd generation of Brown Appraisers and has been appraising for over 30 years. Steve is known as a pillar in the real estate community and is well trusted among his peers. Because of his experience and reputation Steve specializes in legal work, including divorces, estates, tax assessment appeals, and bankruptcy. He also is well versed in large, unique, and contemporary properties that are complex. Steve also provides education to local realtors to help bridge the gap between realtors and appraisers, which makes for a smoother transaction for all involved. Steve is geographically competent in all our coverage areas, but specializes in York, Lancaster, and Lebanon. When Steve isn’t working, which is rare, you can either find him at the gym or on the golf course.
Hunter Brown
As the 4th generation of Brown Appraisers, Hunter has been in the business since he was in high school. He has been appraising since 2013, and in early 2023, he received his SRA designation from the Appraisal Institute. Hunter is our new construction expert and is well known among local builders and lenders for providing fair and articulate appraisals for new construction projects. Because of his experience in new construction, Hunter spends most of his time appraising in York and Adams Counties, however, he is our go-to construction specialist for our entire coverage area. Hunter is a cat dad to his two fur babies.
Amanda McClane
The first appraiser outside of the family is Amanda McClane. Steve met Amanda in 2016, and he quickly realized that she was meant to be part of Brown Appraisers. Amanda has proven to be our go-to specialist for all things unique, including: farms, multi-family properties, land-locked land, and anything where comparables (“comps”) are hard to come by. She is well versed in land values and current rents in the area, and has built a large knowledge base which makes appraising these properties look like a breeze. Because she specializes in unique properties, Amanda covers our entire coverage area with a focus on York, Cumberland, and Dauphin Counties. When she isn’t out appraising the 100-acre farm, Amanda is usually at home with her two kids, at the gym, or walking her two (very cute) labradoodles.
Karissa Baer
Karissa is the glue that holds Brown Appraisers together! Karissa started with Brown Appraisers in early 2021, and very quickly became someone we could not live without. She has a wealth of knowledge on the appraisal process, and she is always in the office and happy to answer any of your appraisal questions. Karissa ensures that all our orders are assigned to the appropriate appraiser, based on their skills and expertise. She is also one of the friendliest people you will ever talk to. I promise you won’t get off the phone with her without a smile on your face. When Karissa is not answering your appraisal questions she can be found hanging out at home or hiking with her husband and two dogs, Lenny and Tucker.
Ariana Hall
Ariana joined our team in mid-2021, and she has been a staple ever since. Ariana oversees researching all our appraisals prior to the appraiser going out to do your inspection. She ensures that we have accurate and complete information on all our orders. She is another friendly voice on the end of the phone when you call in with questions or concerns. Ariana is also responsible for keeping all of our clients up to date on the status of their order throughout the appraisal process. Ariana is recently engaged and is a proud new dog mom, to Toast.
